Four slow days on Phewa Lake — Gurung home cooking, a Sarangkot sunrise, a paraglide, and a short foothill walk with the Annapurnas in view.
From$359$420

One evening, three neighbourhoods, six stops and a river boat — the Bangkok eating route a local family actually uses.
This is a four-hour evening walk, not a restaurant crawl. Chanida takes eight people maximum through Chinatown and Bang Rak, stopping at six vendors her family has eaten at for decades — a charcoal grill, a 40-year-old noodle stall, a curry shop with no English sign, and a dessert cart that sells out by 10 p.m.
One leg is by Chao Phraya express boat, which is both the fastest way across and the best view of the city you will get for 16 baht. All food and drinks are included; come genuinely hungry.
Day by day, as it actually runs.
Meet at Saphan Taksin BTS at 5:30 p.m. We start in Bang Rak with grilled pork skewers and a curry shop the office crowd queues at, then take the express boat upriver as the lights come on. Chinatown after dark for boat noodles, charcoal river prawns and oyster omelette on Yaowarat Road, finishing with mango sticky rice. Ends near Hua Lamphong MRT.

Best thing we did in Bangkok and it cost less than one hotel dinner. The boat noodle stall was unmarked and unforgettable.

Chanida is a brilliant host and clearly known at every stop. We rolled back to the hotel completely defeated by dessert.

Took the halal route and it was arranged without any fuss. Six stops is not an exaggeration — arrive hungry.
